The 2008-2009 concert season is starting to wind down for summer, but Georgia's not done yet.
May 14 & 16-17
- Mozart's Requiem. Robert Spano leads the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and Chorus. Also on the program, Stravinsky's Symphony of Psalms. Symphony Hall, Atlanta, 8 p.m.
- Please note that the Augusta Opera's production of The Barber of Seville originally slated for May has been canceled for budgetary reasons.
- Chuck Quinn conducts the Ocmulgee Symphony Orchestra in an all-Slavic program: Tchaikovsky's Romeo and Juliet, Smetana's Moldau and a much rarer piece, Kalinnikov's Symphony No. 1. Hawkinsville Opera House, 7:30 p.m.
- The Atlanta Baroque Orchestra welcomes renowned violinist Elizabeth Wallfisch to lead music from English Baroque masters (Handel, Purcell, Locke, Avison). Peachtree Road United Methodist Church, Atlanta, 3 p.m.
- The Atlanta Chamber Players hie unto the Atlanta Shakespeare Tavern with music olde and new (Herzogenberg, Kramer, Beethoven). "Licks and Legacies: Chamber Music at the Tavern," 7:30 p.m.
