Link to Midday Music page

Midday Music playlists now appear, appropriately enough, on GPB's Midday Music page, http://www.gpb.org/midday-music, beneath the swirly picture and the swirly prose. Please find new playlists there, along with iTunes links where available.

Midday Music playlists are moving and improving!

As of this week, Sarah Zaslaw's daily Midday Music playlists are taking up residence on GPB's Midday Music page. Please bookmark www.gpb.org/midday-music. New and improved, with clickable links to iTunes! Meanwhile, the Midday Music blog will live on, playlist-free, with occasional posts about music on the air, in concert and in life. Stay tuned for the evolution. Thanks for your support!

Two of the great monotheisms that originated in the Middle East celebrate major holidays within the next day: Islam (Eid al-Fitr, marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan) and Judaism (Rosh Hashanah, celebrating the new year).

At noon on GPB it's an hour of Middle Eastern and Mediterranean connections and sounds and cross-pollinations, from Spain to Persia. Especially listen for music from Maya Beiser's new CD, Provenance, which takes its inspiration from the harmony Muslims, Jews and Christians shared in medieval Spain during the Golden Age.
