Midday Music, Thursday 8/27/09
Quotation of the day: "One man's vermin is another's prize gerbil." - Violinist Andrew Manze, on personal taste in ornamenting and embellishing Corelli's music.
On another note, please tune in TONIGHT (9-11 p.m.) and again Sunday (10 p.m.-midnight) for a special GPB broadcast! It's the Estonian National Symphony and Van Cliburn medalist Joyce Yang, recorded live in concert in Columbus, Georgia.
The RiverCenter for the Performing Arts and GPB presented these artists March 12, 2009, playing Rachmaninoff's Second Piano Concerto, Sibelius's Second Symphony and Summa by Estonia's own Arvo Pรคrt, and I was honored to introduce the orchestra from the stage. Now we're thrilled to bring you Joyce Yang and the Estonians tonight, only on GPB!
