I love that there's always more worthwhile music out there to explore. From the new recordings pile, we've got late choral music by Schutz, a pretty viola showcase by Holst and a Bach solo cello suite with Steven Isserlis.
Also, from the shelved-but-obscure pile, we've got a piano quintet by the young Saint-Saens (arranged as a sextet and recorded in North Carolina), a fascinating sonata for harp and flute, chamber pieces with catchy hooks, a filigree portrait of spring by Glazunov, a tuneful clarinet sonata by Devienne and ... more. I was familiar with almost none of these before programming today's show. Viva serendipity!
