In addition to hearing the recommended daily allowance of good music, we hear about three imminent events in classical Georgia. GPB's Devin Dwyer and Atlanta Opera general manager Dennis Hanthorn introduce us to Cold Sassy Tree, an opera set in a town modeled after what is now Commerce, Georgia. Donald Portnoy talks about conducting Beethoven's Ninth with the Augusta Symphony and a whole lotta singers. And Patricio Cobos, music director of the LaGrange Symphony, goes all-American with an upcoming program featuring native daughter Emily Landa, mezzo-soprano, and music by Atlanta composer and Moultrie native Douglas Hooker.
