Today's recent releases include a lesser-known overture by Elgar, Rameau played anachronistically but well on piano, Respighi's tale of female gnomes who seduce and kill an innocent man, a Shostakovich ballet about a communist-capitalist soccer match and a Mozart violin sonata with period instruments.
